ANTICORROSIVE MATERIAL COVERED REINFORCING CABLE AND METHOD FOR ITS MANUFACTURE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: construction engineering; highway engineering; reinforced concrete structures used in bridge engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying lubricant on cable-forming wires, cutting cable into sections of desired length, and sheathing these sections with polymeric material; lubricant is applied to cable-forming wires before cable cutting in the course of their untwisting in flexible stage; reinforcing cable is covered with polymeric sheath by means of opposing coaxial relative displacement of cable sections and/or polymeric tubes cut into lengths constituting 0.8-1.1 of cable section length and pre-filled with lubricant in at least half of their volume. Polymeric sheath should be better made of tubes whose inner diameter is at least 1.1 of diameter of circle circumscribed around reinforcing cable. Lubricant displaced from tubes in the course of opposing coaxial displacement of cable sections and polymeric tubes pre-filled with lubricant should be reused for filling tubes and/or for applying lubricant onto cable-forming wires. In addition, in the course of tube filling lubricant should be forced from tube end though which cable section is introduced during their relative displacement; cable section introduction is effected without air penetration in tube, mainly through lubricant bath.
