SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel biaromatic compounds bound by propinylene bond of the general formula (I) where Ar means radical of the formula (a) or (b) ; R1 means -OR6 or -COR7; R2 means polyester radical including 1-6 carbon atoms and 1-3 oxygen or sulfur atoms and if in the latter case R4 means linear or branched C1-C20-alkyl then it is located at ortho- or meta-position relative to the bond Ar-X; R3 means a lower alkyl or R2 and R3 taken in common form 6-membered optionally substituted ring with at least one methyl and/or optionally disjointed by oxygen or sulfur atom; R4 means H, linear or branched C1-C20-alkyl or aryl; R5 means H or -OR8; R6 means H; R7 means H, -OR10 or -N(r)r where rr are H, lower alkyl or taken in common with nitrogen atom they form morpholine ring; R8 means H or lower alkyl; R10 means H, linear or branched C1-C20-alkyl; X means bivalent radical which has formula (d) from the right to the left or vice versa; R11 means H or -OR8; R12/ means H, and salts of compound of the formula (I) when R1 means carboxylic acid and optical and geometric isomers of indicated compounds of the formula (I). Invention relates to also a pharmaceutical composition eliciting antagonistic activity with respect to retinoic acid receptors and containing compound of the formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Invention relates to also a cosmetic composition eliciting antagonistic activity with respect to retinoic acid receptors and containing compound of the formula (I) and cosmetically acceptable carrier.
