FIELD: organic chemistry, cosmetics, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention describes biphenyl derivatives substituted with aromatic or heteroaromatic radical and corresponding to the general formula (I): where: Ar means aromatic or heteroaromatic radical taken among: R1; Z means atom S; -CH2-OH, -OR8 means or -COR9; R2 and R3 taken in common form 6-membered ring optionally substituted with at least one methyl and/or optionally broken by oxygen or sulfur atom; R4 means H, linear or branched C1-C20-alkyl, -OR10 or polyester radical; R5 means H, -OCOR11, -OR12, -(CH2)nCOR13; n = 0-6, -O-(CH2)mOH; m = 1- 12, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted aralkyl, optionally substituted heteroaryl, polyester radical or -CH2- polyester radical, -O-(CH2)mCOR13; R6 means H or -OR10; R7 means H, linear or branched C1-C20-alkyl, -OR10 or polyester radical; R8 means H; R9/ means H, -OR14 or ; R10 means H or lower alkyl; R11 means lower alkyl; R12 means H, linear or branched C1-C20-alkyl, mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl or optionally substituted aryl or aralkyl; R13 means lower alkyl or -OR10; R14 means H, linear or branched C1-C20-alkyl; r′ and r″ that can be similar or different mean H, OH, lower alkyl, optionally substituted aryl; or r′ and r″ taken in common form heterocycle, as mixture of their isomers or salt of compounds of the formula (I) when R1 means carboxyl group. Invention describes also pharmaceutical composition showing agonistic activity with respect to RAR and cosmetic composition for hair and body hygiene in humans inclined to the presence of acnes. Invention provides synthesis of novel compounds showing useful biological properties. EFFECT: valuable properties of compounds. 19 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl, 63 ex
