FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing stanolic esters by hydrogenation of sterol composition in solvent for hydrogenation process at elevated temperature in the presence of hydrogenation catalyst followed by removal of hydrogenation catalyst from the resulting hot solution followed by transesterification of intermediate stanolic composition with fatty acid methyl ester at elevated temperature in the presence of transesterification catalyst and finally stanolic ester composition thus prepared is purified. Intermediate stanol composition is neither crystallized nor removed from reaction solution, but solved for hydrogenation process is at least partially replaced by transesterification process reagent. Alevatively, solvent for hydrogenation process is useful as solvent for transesterification process and is preferably transesterification process reagent. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 2 cl, 5 ex
