FIELD: gas-discharge engineering, applicable in display systems having AC gas-discharge display panels, in particular, in color television gas-discharge video modules. SUBSTANCE: the AC gas-discharge display panel has at least three indicating electrodes. In control of the AC gas-discharge display panel use is made of the condition of display preparation and the period of initialization is provided, which comprises the condition of preparatory general erasing formed by setting of the zero-voltage level at all indicating electrodes, general ignition condition formed by supply of general ignition pulses to the scanning indicating electrodes and indicating electrodes adjacent to them, and the general erasing condition formed by setting of the zero-voltage level at the indicating electrodes used in the general ignition condition. Besides modifications of control providing for the optimum results of control of the gas-discharge display panels are presented. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of control. 7 cl, 8 dwg
