SUBSTANCE: method for controlling ac gas panel that has at least three display electrodes includes setting negative- polarity bias voltage in addressing mode across two adjacent display electrodes used in preparation mode, bias voltage Ub₁ being set up across one display electrode whereon scanning pulse is generated and bias voltage Ub₂ = (0,1÷0,9)Ub₁, across other display electrode; then display preparation mode is generated prior to display mode by feeding discharge maintenance voltage pulses to display electrodes used in preparation mode; in the process display electrodes not used in preparation, addressing, and display preparation modes and display electrode across which scanning pulse is generated in addressing mode are transferred into high- impedance state by means of peripheral electric circuits.
