FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology, petroleum chemistry. SUBSTANCE: methyl-tert. -butyl ester is synthesized by synthesis from methanol and isobutylene on sulfocationite catalyst and separation of synthesis products in three columns. The second column by the move of reaction mass flow has additional reaction zone. Technical grade methyl-tert.-butyl ester is isolated as a vat product in the first column by the move. Isobutane-containing flow from the top of the first column is fed into the second column under catalyst layer and vat product from the second column is fed into the first column; flow enriched with isobutane is fed from the top of the second column is fed into the third column to remove methanol. Depleted isobutane fraction is isolated on the top of the third column by the move. Gaseous part of reaction mass and part of phlegm from the first column by the move are fed to mixing with synthesis raw and vat product from the third column is fed into the second column as phlegm.
