FIELD: hydraulic metallurgy; methods of extraction of osmium from chloride solution including oxidation, blowing with air at heating and entrapping of osmium oxides into solution. SUBSTANCE: oxidation is effected by means of sodium nitrite to pH 1-2 at room temperature. Blowing the solution with air is continued for 2 to 3 hours. Prior to entrapping the gaseous phase containing osmium it is passed through aqueous solution and is entrapped in alkaline solution. EFFECT: avoidance of additional oxidizers and reducers. 3 cl, 2 ex
