FIELD: toxicology. SUBSTANCE: one determines first characteristics for erythrocytes, hemoglobin, and total amounts of autorosettes and autorosettes with exocytosis lysis in peripheral blood. If total amount of autorosettes and autorosettes with exocytosis lysis are elevated to 27.4+/- 0.26% and 6.2+/-0.05%, respectively, at normal erythrocyte and hemoglobin characteristics, early-stage chronic intoxication by benzene and their derivatives is revealed. If above-indicated amounts are correspondingly increased to 40.0+/-0.27% and 20.1+/-0.17% at lowered erythrocyte and hemoglobin characteristics, late-stage chronic intoxication is stated. EFFECT: increased determination reliability. 1 tbl
