FIELD: forensic medical toxicology. SUBSTANCE: method consists in determining activity of ethanol-metabolizing enzymes. Enzymatic activity of saliva is found from the value of reduction of substrate during its catalytic oxidation under standard conditions (pH, temperature, incubating medium, and reaction time) accompanying enzymatic reaction in vitro. Precision measurements of initial and final concentrations of substrate, in particular ethanol, needed to estimate individual rate of catalytic process is accomplished using gas-liquid chromatography technique. EFFECT: simplified analytical procedure and avoided fire risk.
