FIELD: processes and devices for rewinding optical fibers. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of guiding fiber continuously supplied from feeding device, subsequent winding of it onto reel and placing catcher near feeding device in order to catch fiber leaving feeding device at providing tension of fiber between catcher and feeding device. Positioning apparatus engages fiber in zone between feeding device and catcher by means of engaging member allowing to continuously trap supplied fiber due to motion of said member from position near feeding device and catcher to position near reel for moving fiber at least to one guiding position at automatically guiding fiber (being at least in one guiding position) onto reel.
