FIELD: fire prevention. SUBSTANCE: method involves suppressing combustion processes by discharging onto fire source a directed high-velocity fire-suppressing aerosol flow generated in the process of throwing, ignition and combustion during flight of at least one solid, liquid or thickened aerosol- generating composition, which contains combustible, oxidizer and/or cooler. When reaching fire source, fire- suppressing aerosol covers burning zone while coming into contact with flame and simultaneously provides flame- blowing off effect and inhibiting effect upon physical and chemical burning processes with resulting fire suppression or localization. Aerosol generating compounds of one or various compositions are used, or mixture of liquid or thickened aerosol-generating compound, or with fire-suppressing powders, or with water, or with aqueous saline solutions, or with volumetrically detonating mixture, including mixture of components having different density, or mixture thereof. Order of arrangement of mentioned means may be different during throwing and ignition in flight. Ignition and burning of composition(s) with following generation of directed aerosol flow occur during flight and/or above burning object and/or inside thereof. Mentioned features provide for wider range of use of fire-suppressing method. Kinetic energy is imparted to aerosol flow by throwing, propelling, shooting energy, or alternatively it is generated due to burning of composition itself in aerosol generator, as well as during flying to or above or inside burning object.
