METHOD FOR PREPARATION AND EXPLOITATION OF ROLLING ROLLS OF COLD ROLLING MILLS Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: rolled stock production, namely preparation and exploitation of rolling rolls, possibly in mills for cold rolling of steel sheets. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of working rolling rolls recently mounted in mill for exploitation during 2-20 min; after such working for 2 min detecting hidden (invisible) flaws of working surface of rolling roll; after detecting such flaws subjecting rolling rolls to regrinding for mounting them in prefinishing stands; at absence of flaws subjecting rolling rolls to working for predetermined time period in order to receive rolls with desired degree of surface roughness for their subsequent mounting in finishing stand. If it is necessary to prepare flawless rolls with smooth barrel rolls are subjected to initial cathode treatment for 2 min and then they are subjected to regrinding for their exploitation beginning from finishing stand and further in direction opposite to rolling process direction; at such process providing alternation of roll operation in stand and their regrinding. Method allows to evaluate invisible flaws of rolls during their preparation process and to set modes of their effective exploitation.
