FIELD: production of high planeness rolled strips and sheets. SUBSTANCE: method of preparing rolls for cold rolling of strips comprises steps of preliminarily grinding rolls until predetermined roughness degree, partially immersing rolls to chrome containing working solution for cathode treatment of roll surface. Each treatment step is performed with use of additional sine shaped anode. Said anode is arranged in bath with working liquid in such a way that apexes of positive wave halves of sine of said additional anode are spaced from upper level of electrolyte in bath by 0.065-0.07 of roll diameter. Number of anode waves along length of barrel of treated roll should be even in range 2-10 waves. Treatment is realized at voltage 280-290 V, cathode current density 80-95 A/ square dm in chrome containing solution with concentration 30-36% containing (g/cubic dm): chrome nitrate 300-350; potassium carbonate 8-10.
