FIELD: exploration and prospecting of mineral resources, in particular, in exploration, quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the diamond content in kimberlite rocks. SUBSTANCE: representative lump samples are taken, microsections are produced, textural-structural features of the rocks are described, quantitative relations of complex oxides of the basic mass of kimberlite rocks: spinelide, perovskite, ilmenite are investigated. Using the microsections, the morphometric parameters of the crystals of spinelides of the basic mass of the rock are calculated, statistics histograms of the mass and quantitative granulometric compositions of spinelides are obtained. On the basis of the obtained histograms the distribution curve of the obtained histograms the distribution curve of the granulometric composition of spinelides in the rock volume is plotted. Referring to the proportion of the 0.044+0.02-mm size of the mass granulometric composition the average value of the diamond content in the kimberlite rock is calculated by an empirical formula.
