FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed valve-actuating mechanism of internal combustion engine with overhead camshafts has camshafts with cams and housing in bores of which camshafts are fitted. Housing is installed on upper plane of cylinder block-and-crankcase unit by means of intermediate members. Cams of camshafts engage with rockers, each resting by one end on valve stem and by other end, on stationary ball support installed in camshaft housing on projection made inside housing in its lower part. EFFECT: reduced forces required for separating camshaft housing from head or from upper plane of cylinder block-and- crankcase unit (depending on design version), reduced deformation of camshaft housing and prevention of jamming of camshafts in housing bores. 4 dwg
