FIELD: recording and playback of audio and video signals recorded on magnetic strip. SUBSTANCE: sequence of time marks is distributed along magnetic strip. Time marks determine recording blocks and specified time interval T for playback of each mentioned block. Reading device moved by hand is meant for reading of specified recording and sequence of time marks and for formation of first signal of reading of recording and second periodic signal of reading of sequence of time marks. Storage is designed to store ordered sequence of retrievals of abovementioned first signal. Reading of above-mentioned stored retrievals in order related to order of recording is carried out at next second stage. Playback unit is connected to storage to receive specified retrievals of signal and to convert them to acoustic and/or video signal. Control and synchronization unit is connected to reading device to receive second reading signal and to storage for alternating control over frequency of periodic recording in storage and over frequency of periodic reading from storage. In process of recording number of retrievals presenting reading device is maintained in the course of period of specified second signal. In process of reading number of retrievals presenting reading device is read in the course of specified time interval T.
