FIELD: radar antennas. SUBSTANCE: method involves shaping of transceiving directivity pattern separately for radiation and for reception of radio waves, main antenna beam being used for radiating radio waves and sum or difference directivity pattern of main and two additional beams, for reception with axes of additional beams displaces either side of main beam axis through half the main- beam directivity pattern width for zero level to obtain, respectively, greater or smaller width of resultant directivity pattern. Newly introduced in phased-array radar antenna with width-controlled directivity pattern are two receive beams and also adder, controlled phase shifter, transmit/receive switch, signal mixer for mixing up main beam and sum of additional beams. EFFECT: reduced horizontal dimensions of antenna including its radius of action. 2 cl, 5 dwg
