FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining separately polishing convexities (concavities) of supporting and working rolls for all macro profile dimensions of heavy-section mill; selecting the most frequently encountered value of this parameter of working rolls as basic and using it as single value for all sections of polishing profiling mill; introducing it into mill model and determining permanent value of supporting roll polishing convexity for each stand; using mathematical model to provide for separate controlling of each profile dimension for planeness requirements at designed rolling mode; varying coolant flow rates from one section to another. In case amounts of coolant are insufficient for satisfying such requirements and planeness requirements are not met, compression cycles are additionally and successively varied and redistributed from one stand to another, with following varying of ingoing thickness and rolling speed. At each varying stage, the value of parameter providing minimal declination from planeness requirement should be selected. Such embodiment allows single (universal) roll profiling to be implemented for the whole multiple-stand mill, general and return rolling stock on mill to be substantially reduced, roll maintenance and polishing expenses to be reduced. EFFECT: increased efficiency by unified adjustment of rolling mill and reduced rejection of rolled product due to non-planeness. 4 tbl
