FIELD: mechanical engineering; measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves heating product to Curie temperature, magnetizing it, determining initial magnetic permeability value μs. Heating is stopped. is determined in the course of natural cooling of the product under different temperature values. Temperature dependence plot of μs, is built and α and β approximation parameter values are determined from the results of approximation of the given relationship with some analytical expression β/α, characterizing elastic stresses is calculated. The so determined value is compared to the like values characterizing standard samples. The results of comparison are interpreted for determining elastic stress state in the product under study.
