FIELD: nondestructive test by ultrasonic methods, detection of flaws in various cylindrical articles in mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic vibrations are emitted into cylindrical article, echo signals from article are received and surface of article is scanned circularity. Received echo signals are analyzed and registered in rectangular coordinates proportional to path of travel of converter along trajectory of circular scanning and time of propagation of ultrasonic vibrations in tested article. Joint analysis of time positions of received echo signals along entire path of scanning with complete revolution of circular scan is carried out. Results of analysis of recorded echo signals are used to evaluate presence of flaws. In addition angular position of flaw in section of tested article and central angle of sector where flaw is are determined by recorded signals in correspondence with certain expressions. Speed of travel of converter along circular trajectory is chosen from condition of obtainment of specified number of echo signals from minimal flaw subject to detection. EFFECT: enhanced authenticity of ultrasonic test of cylindrical articles with simultaneous simplification of technology and increased productivity of test, obtainment of objective test record. 2 cl, 1 dwg
