FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is related specifically to systems determining range without use of reflection or secondary radiation and measuring range to spatially distributed radiation sources. Proposed method includes reception of radiation of radiation source with the help of two receivers placed at base distance one from another and fitted with narrow-beam antennas, measurement of angles of directions of reception of radiation of source by antennas A1 and A2 correspondingly with reference direction in which capacity perpendicular to line A1A2 is assumed and computation of range to radiation source by formula: R = d•cosϕ2/sin(ϕ2-ϕ1), where R is distance from radiation source to antenna A1; d is base distance between antennas; ϕ1, ϕ2 are angles of directions of reception of radiation of source by antennas A1 and A2 correspondingly with reference direction.
