FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: method for passive determining the coordinates of a moving radiation source is based on using the difference in arrival times of a signal with a spherical or cylindrical wave front from the radiation source to several receivers. To determine the coordinates of a moving radiation source by a receiving system of M antennas, M≥3, two-stage averaging of the coordinate estimates is used: preliminary, small - static and basic, dynamic. In order to determine preliminary estimates of the i-th step, a reference point with assumed source coordinates is used, phasing each antenna in its direction, forming Mp pairs of antennas with non-repeated indices mn, and according to samples the complex mutual spectra of the signal power density are determined from the outputs of each pair. Then, on each cycle, the deviation values between the coordinates of the reference point and the desired current coordinates of the source are determined.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the coordinates of a moving radiation source without errors that depend on the speed of relative displacement of the source and receivers for an arbitrary number of antennas and for arbitrary, known placement in space.
