UNIVERSAL RETRACTOR Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: surgical retractors; applicable in performance of operations in hard to reach deep wound channels and in formation of artificial cavities in soft tissues for location of implants, for instance, in prosthetics of mammary glands. SUBSTANCE: universal retractor consists of handle and working part presenting a steel tube with light guide, steel tube for fluid and smoke suction and diathermic hook of brass which is installed over its entire length with fluoroplastic shell. Both tubes and diathermic hook has a bend at end to side opposite to handle base and are parallel to each other. Handle is made in the form of trihedron with cut-off ribs along which semiround hollows are located for contact with fingers and through round hole. It is communicated with a suction tube and serves for suction conditions regulation. Light source is made in the form of light guide sealed into steel rigid tube. Light guide has glass lens on front end, and connector for connection with fiber cable. Suction tube is in the form of steel hollow tube with tapered front end. Its rear end has conical plastic cannula for connection to hose of electric suction device. Diathermic hook is made in the form of brass rod insulated over its entire length with shell of heat-resistant inert material with bare head and end. EFFECT: extended functional potentialities of retractor, higher efficiency of engagement with patient's organs and tissues during operation. 3 cl, 1 dwg
