FIELD: chemical industry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: reactor consists of cylindrical carcass 2 filled with at least a single layer of catalyst 4, feeding nozzle 10 for gas supply comprising carbon monoxide and outlet nozzle 11. Reactor comprises a device 12 for flow acceleration fitted with the unit having narrowing 13. In passing gas flow comprising CO and water through the unit 12 its rate increases by 1.5-5 times. Accelerated flow 14 entries in reaction space 3 where conversion of CO to CO2 occurs. The ratio of diameter of unit 13 to passing diameter of feeding nozzle 10 is 0.45-0.85. Unit 13 can presents Venturi tube. Method excludes the surface thickening catalyst and its decomposition. Invention can be used for ammonia synthesis.
