FIELD: plants for performing endothermic and exothermic reactions. SUBSTANCE: proposed plant includes various parts which are subjected to thermal deformation with piston-type seals between these parts for forming gastight seals during thermal deformation. Reforming unit is used for conversion of methane and water steam into CO, CO2 and H2. Reforming unit has cylindrical outer casing with zone of indirect heat exchange and delivery zone wherefrom flow of gas containing methane and water steam is fed to indirect heat exchange zone; casing is provided with branch pipe for supply of heating gas to indirect heat exchange zone; heating gas performs function of heating source required for conversion; unit is provided with many tubes with floating ends filled with catalyst, exhaust pipe, chamber where flow of gas containing CO, CO2 and H2 is accumulated. Provision is made for expansion of tubes and exhaust pipe at thermal deformation in opposite directions relative to supply zone.
