PROCESS OF ACTIVE JAMMING OF LASER RANGE FINDING FACILITIES Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2186409 C2

FIELD: active jamming of pulse laser range finders. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to methods creating active jamming of pulse laser range finders installed on military equipment which uses solid, semiconductor and gas lasers as working medium. Salient feature of invention lies in installation of laser radiators operating on wave lengths of enemy's range finders on protected object and in generation by them of continuous sequence of pulses towards enemy which pulse repetition period is less than time of passage of measuring pulse from enemy's range finder to protected object and back with pulse length 10-40 ns and power securing operation of photodetection facilities of enemy's range finder. Pulse repetition rate of laser radiation is altered in time in random manner in range from 40 to 150 kHz. When range to enemy is measured from protected object source of active jamming is either switched off or wave length of own range finder is shifted relative to source of active jamming. Angular spread of source of active jamming is changed depending on range to enemy. EFFECT: provision for entry of false range to protected object into enemy's ranger finders, reduced probability of projectile hitting protected object. 4 dwg
