FIELD: chemical technology, catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of catalyst used for hydrogenation of aromatic hydrocarbons, gases scrubbing from oxygen and carbon oxides, for methanation of CO and CO2 and other processes. Invention describes a method of synthesis of catalyst for hydrogenation of aromatic hydrocarbons, for methanation of CO and CO2 by treatment of a dry mixture of basic nickel carbonate and aluminium oxide and/or hydroxide with chrome anhydride solution followed by drying, calcinations and tabletting. For preparing the catalyst mass aluminium oxide and/or hydroxide containing one compound of element of the group: K, Na, Si, Fe, Ca, Mg taken in the amount 0.001-0.5 wt.% as measure for oxide is used. Ammonium hydroxide is added to obtained catalyst mass in molar ratio chromic acid anhydride : ammonium hydroxide = 1 : (0.2-1) and catalyst of the following composition is obtained, wt.%: nickel, 20-50; chrome oxide, 10-30; aluminium oxide, the balance.
