FIELD: nuclear engineering; nuclear reactors, such as water-cooled ones using square- or hexahedral-section fuel assemblies.
SUBSTANCE: proposed nuclear-reactor control element has central rod, absorbing parts, top and bottom tips. Central rod is made in the form of rod with through axial hole whose ends are fixed to tips. Absorbing parts are made in the form of absorbing-material plates whose lower edges are fixed on supporting surfaces of bottom tip; plates are disposed in a spaced relation to outer side surface of central rod. Slots made on sides of top tip have their edges disposed in parallel with longitudinal axis and function as guide surfaces for displacement of cleats fixed in position in upper section of absorbing parts. Tips have axial and transversal through holes forming clearances between them and absorbing parts. In addition, supporting brackets are attached to absorbing parts and tips are provided with junction members.
EFFECT: enhanced stability of reactor power control and maintenance at desired level, enhanced operating reliability and service life, as well as enlarged functional capabilities of control element.
