APPARATUS FOR PROPHYLAXIS OF FOREST FIRES IN PINE PLANTATIONS Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: forestry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has frame, discharge fan, air duct, carrier-feeler wheels and discharge device comprising mounting plate, immovable housing and flat double-contoured nozzle. Nozzle may rotate in longitudinal-vertical plane through predetermined angle by means of lever equipped with recess and by means of control hydraulic cylinder. To provide for complete lifting of coniferous layer from soil surface and moving it for predetermined distance, nozzle is urged to form two flows having different outlet directions and different speeds. Flows are created by means of plate mounted inside nozzle and provided with profiled surface enabling dividing of flow into two parts, baffling one part of flow and imparting additional speeding up thereof. Discharge device may be turned in horizontal plane through angle providing maximal treatment of trees arranged in rows on pipe plantation, at one side of operating apparatus. Apparatus is used for fire prophylaxis, in particular, for preventing the occurrence and spreading of ground fires on pine plantations by creating inflammable zones in forest edge and internal rows of pine trees.
