FIELD: electrolytic winning of aluminum from cryolite-alumina melt. SUBSTANCE: process of start of aluminum electrolyzer after overhaul includes loading of solid starting raw material along periphery of cathode device, calcination of hearth, pouring of liquid electrolyte, connection of electrolyzer to network, supply of solid fluoric salts and pouring of molten metal into bath. Mixture of flotation and regenerated cryolite in the amount of 70-95 wt. % from total weight of solid raw material is fed into bath in the capacity of solid fluoric salts. Weight ratio between flotation and regenerated cryolite is kept equal to 2.5-5.0:1.0 and water content of mixture should be 0.6-1.7%. EFFECT: increased technical and economic indices of process of electrolysis thanks to reduced consumption of fluoric salts and electric energy for start. 2 cl, 1 tbl
