FIELD: manufacture of gyrocompasses and analytical heading indicating units. SUBSTANCE: method consists preliminary determination of true heading angle. In adjusting the gyrocompass, error of gyrocompassing is determined at horizontal position of plane of its sensitivity axes and at preset azimuthal angles between 0 and 360 deg. Gyroscope is tilted at preset azimuthal angles first in pitching and then in rolling determining at said coefficients influence on error of tilt angles. Gyrocompassing error in horizontal position and coefficients of influence on error of gyrocompassing of tilt angles depending on azimuthal angle is presented in form of sinusoidal laws at constant components whose parameters are found of basis of measured dependences. In gyrocompassing, compensation is formed as law of azimuthal change of gyrocompassing error in horizontal position taking into account influence of tilt and using heading angle in first approximation instead of true azimuth.
