FIELD: production of ultrafine metal powders. SUBSTANCE: method for producing concentrated aerosol of submicron conductive metallic particles comprises steps of evaporating metal; then condensing metal vapor in gas carrier, namely according to invention metal is applied in the form of thin metallic film onto inner wall of quartz chamber and evaporation is realized in uniform variable electromagnetic field of solenoid during short time interval. Apparatus for performing the method having cylindrical chamber with unions for gas supply includes in addition electromagnet, capacitor unit; power source. Cylindrical chamber is made of quartz; along the whole length of inner wall of said chamber metallic film is applied by evaporation; unions are provided on ends of chamber. Metallic film in the form of closed limited-width ring is applied on central portions of chamber walls. EFFECT: possibility for producing for short time interval large volume of aerosol of ultrafine particles with high concentration and narrow distribution of particle fraction size. 3 cl, 3 dwg, 1 ex
