SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the use of an autoantigen HC gp-39 and other proteins comprising an amino acid sequence showing at least 50% of homology with amino acid sequence of HC gp-39 and especially with amino acid sequence: YKLVCYYTSWSQYREGDGSCFPDALD-RFLCTHIIYSFANISND (sequence No. 1), in an antigen-specific treatment of destruction of articular cartilage in autoimmune diseases in mammals, for induction of systemic tolerance of immune system. Autoantigen HC gp-39 and arthritogenic proteins containing an amino acid sequence showing at least 50% of homology with an amino acid sequence: YKLVCYYTSWSQYREGDGSCFPDALDR-FLCTHIIYS-FANISD (sequence No. 1) are suitable also for induction of arthritis in animals but preferably in mice. Invention relates to also pharmaceutical compositions containing indicated antigen and/or arthritogenic proteins.
