FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in production of ore of preliminary reduction and iron of direct reduction. Method includes forming reducing gas used in chemical reduction of ferric oxides from natural gas through decomposition of hydrocarbons by such oxidants as water and oxygen inside reduction reaction which contains iron refined from admixtures and used as conversion catalyst. Content of carbon in direct-reduction iron may be reliability controlled through change of relative amount of water, carbon dioxide and oxygen in reducing gas fed to reduction reactor. Content of carbon in direct-reduction iron is regulated through control of amount of water in reducing gas fed to reduction reactor; addition of oxygen ensures energy required for carburization of directreduction iron. EFFECT: possibility of obtaining reduced iron at preset accurately controlled content of carbon without natural gas reforming reactor. 23 cl, 1 dwg
