Abstract RU 2285047 C1

FIELD: processing metallurgical raw materials containing iron oxides by reduction to iron.

SUBSTANCE: reducing gas fed in counter-flow at temperature of 850-1000°C contains hydrogen and carbon monoxide; hydrocarbons are converted by oxidants; waste reducing gas is discharged from reduction zone and is mixed with natural gas and with water. Heating and conversion of hydrocarbons by oxidants shall be performed in gas generator space by plasma jets. Main closed circulating flow of waste gases from reactor to lower part- converting zone is formed. Part of flow is taken from closed loop and is used for operation of gas generator after cleaning. Main flow of waste gases is passed through gas generator, heated to 3000°C and natural gas and water are injected into flow which is cooled to 900-1000°C at reactor inlet. Generator is located in waste gas loop in reactor reduction zone.

EFFECT: increased rate of reduction reaction; avoidance of emissions of toxic gases into atmosphere; possibility of making use of waste gases for operation of gas generator.
