FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: when revealing oil deposit with profiled configuration, one treats preliminarily ground sample to isolate organics. Hydrocarbons are assayed on molecular level by way of investigating distribution of linear alkanes and isoprenoids. Saturated hydrocarbons are separated from organic material and distribution of cyclic hydrocarbons is investigated. All distributions found are used as controlled information parameters witnessing existence and origin of oil deposit. EFFECT: facilitated oil exploration, in particular determination of nature of oil deposit origin without precise indication on existence or nonexistence of oil deposit under a certain point. 3 cl
