SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of geochemical detection of hydrocarbon deposits, in particular to the field of searching for oil and gas fields, and can be used to identify and assess their hidden deposits. Declared geochemical method of finding oil and gas includes the sampling of rocks on the surface of a hydrothermal vein or from the core of the well. In this case, samples are taken containing various types of quartz. Then, using the EPR method, analyze the varieties of quartz for the presence of paramagnetic defects and radical products, the type and concentration of which determine the presence of hidden deposits of oil and gas. Presence of amine groups indicates oil deposits, the presence of aliphatic groups indicates the presence of gas sources.
EFFECT: increasing the information content and reliability of the results.
