FIELD: active test of structures using forced mechanical vibrations in manufacture of engines. SUBSTANCE: vibrations are excited in reference and tested structure and several forms of vibration are chosen. Equivalent masses of structures corresponding to observation point chosen near nodal line or point are determined for chosen forms of vibration. Emergence of flaw is judged by difference in value of equivalent masses for reference and tested structures. Several equivalent masses of reference and tested structures in observation points chosen close to most probable points of emergence of flaw are determined in addition for chosen forms of vibration and point of emergence of flaw is found by largest difference in values of equivalent masses of reference and tested structures from number of additional equivalent masses.
