FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method of synthesis of derivatives of 3-phenyl-4-aminobutanoic acid, in part, 3- carboethoxy-4-phenylpyrrolidone-2. Method involves an interaction of benzylidenemalonic acid diethyl ester with nitromethane in the presence of sodium or potassium ethylate as an alkaline catalyst in the medium of methanol, ethanol or isopropanol. The synthesized compound is hydrogenated under hydrogen value pressure up to 4.9 atm using palladium or nickel catalyst in the medium of or methanol, ethanol or isopropanol either in acetic acid medium. The proposed method is carried out under a more low pressure, and it provides a minimal formation of by-side compounds.
