FIELD: electrified railways; maintenance of contact system. SUBSTANCE: proposed method comes to the following: two measurements are taken in points located on one line square to geometric axis of track at rail head level, and height of contact wire from rail head level and displacement of contact wire relative to geometric axis are determined. Distance to contact wire is measured relative to points arranged symmetrically relative to geometric axis of track by means of ultrasound, and displacement Δ of contact wire relative to geometric axis of track is found from equation at c>b where a is distance between symmetrical points of measurements at rail head level; b is distance from one point of measurement at rail head level to contact wire in plane square to geometric axis of track; c is distance from other point of measurement at rail head level to contact wire in plane square to geometric axis of track. Then height h of contact wire relative to rail head level is found from equation: or at c>b. EFFECT: improved accuracy of determination of geometric parameters of location of contact wire relative to geometric axis of track. 1 tbl, 1 dwg
