Proposed compounds inhibit activity of matrix metalloproteases, for example, interstitial collagenases and can be used for treatment morbid states in mammals relieved by inhibition of such matrix metalloproteases, for example, arthritis or diseases associated with bone resorption, for example, osteoporosis.
