FIELD: biotechnology, biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention describes method of preparing chemically modified hyaluronic acid that involves activation of carboxyl groups of hyaluronic acid with 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide and reaction of formed O-acylurea with 5-aminosalicylic acid aqueous suspension at initial temperature of reaction 40 C for 2-4 h and the following purification of polymeric amide by dialysis, with aluminium oxide and precipitation with ethyl alcohol. Depending on time of reaction carrying out hyaluronic acid is synthesized with different degree of substitution of carboxyl groups. Films made of modified polysaccharide can be used both biomaterial in abdominal surgery for protection of anastomosis in intestine resection and for and for impregnation of suture material (surgery threads), artificial prostheses and so on.
