FIELD: highway engineering, particularly, designs of functional joints applicable, mainly, in bridge construction, in superstructure of bridges with considerable operating linear movements of its component members. SUBSTANCE: functional joint has edging metal angle pieces with a row of holes accommodating pins, rubber expansion joint located between parallel vertical angle piece flanges and whose free ends are located on upper flanges of an angle pieces, and locked from their ends and from atop by plates of upper and end face covers. Claimed functional joint differs from the known ones by the fact that pins are rigidly connected to form comb with plate covers located above rubber expansion joint which has holes along edges with pins passed through said holes. Besides, pins are accommodated in holes by length of upper cover with space equal to 8-12 pin diameters equal to 2-4 thicknesses of rubber expansion joint in point of its fastening. In this case, pins are welded to upper cover whose width exceeds width of end face cover by a factor of 1.5-2.5. EFFECT: higher maintainability of functional joint, increased operating reliability, and reduced maintenance expenditures. 3 cl, 1 dwg
