FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed engine has opposed cylinders with pistons and three-throw crankshaft. First piston is coupled with first crank by means of first connecting rod, second piston is coupled with second and third cranks arranged symmetrically relative to cylinder axis at angle of 180° relative to first crank by means of second and third connecting rods whose mass being twice less than mass of first connecting rod. Walls of trunk of each piston have sections displaced relative to inner surface of cylinder. Ends of piston pins are brought into spaces formed by outer surface of trunk and inner surface of cylinder. Second and third connecting rods are connected with ends of pins. Outer surface of trunk of each piston can be provided with flat or concave sections relative to cylinder axis with distance between sections being larger than or equal to 0.5 and smaller than or equal to 0.75 of diameter of cylinder inner surface.
