FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: method could be used to study free-radical processes in lacrimal liquid as the values of free-radical oxidation in eye tissues. It is registered the level of luminol-dependent hemiluminescence of the residue and supernatant of lacrimal liquid. For this purpose one should prepare the solution to study luminol-dependent luminescence and stable iron-induced hemiluminescence served as a control. The obtained lacrimal liquid is divided by centrifuging into 2 fractions - supernatant and residue. Residue luminosity is detected in the solution used to study luminol-dependent hemiluminescence. In a model system in the presence of supernatant one should determine the light total of luminescence and calculate the total antioxidizing activity of supernatant in percentage rate against a control. At residue luminosity values being above 8.75±3.91 conventional units and total antioxidizing activity of supernatant being under 25% one should conclude on active inflammatory process, at residue luminosity values equal to 8.75±3.911 - 1.83±0.85 conventional units and total antioxidizing activity of supernatant being 25-50% inflammatory process is considered to be subactive, at residue luminosity values being 1.83±0.85 conventional units and lower and total antioxidizing activity of supernatant being 50% and higher inflammatory process is stated to be inactive.
