FIELD: gas-discharge engineering; air- gap and surge arresters. SUBSTANCE: arrester suited to operate normally at long pulses of high-level energy being handled, in continuous heavy-current mode, and in pulsed mode at high arc-extinction potential has two and more intercommunicating air gaps formed by anode, cathode 2, and intermediate electrode assemblies 10, 11. Intermediate electrodes 10, 11 are disposed on both surfaces of solid disk 5 provided with annular slot 6 around electrode, say electrode 10, on one of its surfaces and with at least one through hole 7 in annular slot closed with circular metal lid 8 provided with at least one through hole 9; hole 9 of lid 8 and hole 7 of annular slot 6 are disposed on different sides of tube axis. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and service life of arrester. 1 dwg
