FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to make discharge devices, intended to switch the high level energy and to provide overvoltage protection. Switching device comprises two main electrodes, divided by a discharge gap; igniter electrode in the form of rod and current leads are located in this gap. One of the main electrodes has a through hole; igniter electrode made of semi-conducting or non-metal material with resistive properties, comes through this hole with a gap. One end of the igniter electrode contacts with another main electrode; opposite end of the igniter electrode is connected - via additional switching device, for example, gas-filled discharger, - to the main electrode with through hole or to trigger-pulse generator. From one side of igniter electrode, current leads are connected to the main electrodes; from another side of the igniter electrode the main electrodes have diverging or parallel to each other working surfaces.
EFFECT: enhancement of reliability and operation stability in high-current mode with a large discharge per pulse.
