METHOD FOR MAKING CASTING WITH ENHANCED WEAR-RESISTANCE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2192938 C2

FIELD: machine engineering, namely processes for making wear resistant castings of parts of hydraulic machines for pumping abrasive mixtures, milling bodies of coal- and ore grinding mills and so on. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of making plate of powdered hard alloy, for example of tungsten carbide and easy-to-burn out binder; placing said plate in upper portion of casting mold; pouring melt metal such as steel through bottom gating system. After filling mold with melt metal binder burns out due to contact of liquid steel with plate; powdered tungsten carbide deposits onto bottom forming in lower portion of casting mold wear-resistant working layer of casting. EFFECT: increased useful life period of wear- resistant casting. 3 dwg
