FIELD: testing technology. SUBSTANCE: method is performed with the aid of heat-insulated chamber whose interior is formed by inlet and outlet cavities divided by straightway narrowing passages at critical section. Two temperature sensors are located in inlet and outlet cavities of chamber. Inlet cavity is made for tight connection with wall of object under test and outlet cavity is brought into communication with vacuum system; besides that, screen-fairing is provided in inlet cavity between temperature sensor and wall of object. Temperature in inlet and outlet cavities is measured separately and difference between these temperatures is indicative of untightness and its location; magnitude of this difference shows amount of untightness. For location of untight area of object at minimum leakage, heat-insulated chamber is evacuated on object, after which it is disconnected from evacuation system and is kept for definite period of time; then, chamber is communicated with evacuation system and temperature is simultaneously measured in inlet and outlet cavities of chamber; difference between these temperatures is indicative of untightness and its position and magnitude of this difference shows amount of untightness. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy and reliability; facilitated procedure; low cost of method. 4 cl, 1 dwg
